Southern Hub Node Manager

Challenge

Pastoral resilience in the Southern Rangelands requires coordinated extension and peer learning across vast distances, with dispersed land managers and overlapping programs creating fragmentation. Without deliberate regional coordination, there is a risk of duplication, missed collaboration opportunities and limited uptake of knowledge and innovation by producers.

Solution

Hub node coordination provides dedicated regional leadership through a node manager role that supports relationship building, facilitates engagement and aligns activities across RLP projects, drought resilience initiatives and partner-led programs. Demonstrations and field days, producer networks and alignment with the DAFF Climate-Smart Agriculture program create practical pathways for producer learning and practice change.

Impact

The Southern Hub Node has strengthened regional pastoral networks, improved uptake of research findings and enhanced innovation adoption in agriculture across the Murchison. Two-way communication between the hub and producers has ensured that local priorities inform program design, while relevant information, tools and opportunities are actively shared back to communities.

Outcome

The Southern Hub Node Manager program has established lasting coordination infrastructure across the Southern Rangelands that continues to support pastoral resilience and knowledge sharing. By building trusted relationships and networks, it has created a foundation for ongoing collaboration and practice change that extends well beyond the funded program period.
